Change or upgrade your plan
Upgrading an event raises its storage, video length, contribution cap and retention window together, and it takes effect immediately for what arrives next.
It does not recover uploads that were already refused. Those guests would have to send again, and at a party they will not.
What an upgrade changes
All 4 limits move at once: storage, permitted video length, the contribution cap and the retention window. The watermark disappears from the guest page, package downloads become available, and on Celebrate and above the live wall unlocks.
Everything already in the album stays exactly where it is. Nothing is reprocessed and nothing changes quality.
- Upgrade before the party. That is the whole of the advice. Everything else is detail.
- Check the album afterwards. The new limits apply from that moment on.
- Tell guests to retry if it mattered. A refused upload is not queued. It has to be sent again.
The window is recalculated, not extended
The new retention length is measured from the same anchor — the event date — rather than from the day you upgraded. So moving from Essential to Grand near the end of a window genuinely buys you the difference between 90 and 365 days.
It cannot bring back an album whose grace period has already run out. Once the media is removed, it is gone.
What it cannot undo
An upload refused for exceeding a limit left nothing behind. There is no queue holding it and no retry that fires when the ceiling rises — the guest simply saw a message and moved on.
That is the reason the timing matters more than the tier. A cheaper plan bought beforehand beats an expensive one bought after.
| Before the party | After the party | |
|---|---|---|
| Higher limits apply | To everything guests send | Only to what arrives later |
| Refused uploads recovered | Not applicable | No |
| Longer album life | Yes | Yes |
| Package download unlocked | Yes | Yes |
| Watermark removed | Yes, guests see it | Yes, but nobody is looking |
Upgrading afterwards is still worth it for the download and the window. It just cannot recover what was refused.
Going the other way
There is nothing to downgrade, because there is no subscription. A purchase applies to 1 event and simply does not repeat, so the way to spend less next time is to buy a lower tier for the next event.
An event already on a paid tier keeps what it was bought with for its whole window.
It applies to 1 event
Upgrading a wedding does not touch the birthday sitting beside it in your list. Each event carries its own plan, its own storage and its own window, and a new event always starts free.
If you run several, check the plan on each before its own party.
When it is worth doing mid-party
When guests are hitting the ceiling and telling you. Storage full and the free tier s 60-contribution cap both produce a clear message on the guest page, so you will hear about it rather than having to guess.
Upgrade, then say out loud that it works now. Guests who were refused once do not try again unprompted.
Common questions
Does upgrading recover refused uploads?
No. Nothing is queued; the guest has to send again.
Is the longer window measured from the upgrade?
No, from the event date. So a late upgrade buys the full difference.
Can I downgrade?
There is nothing to downgrade. A purchase applies to 1 event and does not repeat.
Does upgrading affect my other events?
No. Each event carries its own plan.
Can I upgrade during the party?
Yes, and it applies immediately. Tell guests to try again afterwards.
