Short answer

Photos are always available. Video and voice notes are on by default and can be switched off for each event separately.

You can also set the permitted length lower, and switch on 2 optional steps: the consent sheet before the first upload and the name question after it. Both are off by default.

The 3 kinds of contribution

A guest can send photos, add a video or record a voice note. On the guest page these sit side by side, each with its own label. Whatever you switch off disappears there entirely — there is no greyed-out button raising questions.

Photos cannot be switched off. They are the point of an album, and an event without them would have none.

  1. Open the event. Pick the event in the dashboard and go to the guest-page settings.
  2. Set the kinds. Video and voice notes switch independently. Photos stay active either way.
  3. Save, then look. Open the guest page yourself afterwards. What you see there is what your guests get.

When switching something off helps

Video costs storage and patience. If your album is tight or the venue network is weak, an event without video collects more contributions than one with. Switching voice notes off makes sense when it will be loud enough that nobody could speak intelligibly anyway.

When in doubt leave both on. An extra route costs nothing while nobody uses it.

Setting the length lower

Whatever the plan allows, you can set a shorter video length and a shorter voice note for your event. The guest page respects it and announces the limit beforehand. Upwards is not possible — what the plan does not give cannot be set on the event.

A tight limit works as direction: 30 seconds forces the point, and short contributions get watched more than long ones.

The name question

After sending, the page can ask who a contribution is from, and the guest types a first name — up to 40 characters — or stays anonymous. This step is off by default too. Switched on, the answer applies to everything else the same guest sends that evening.

The name can appear on a live wall. Treat it like any other contribution you would want to see first.

Looking at what guests see

Open the guest page yourself after every change, on a phone rather than a computer. You then see exactly what will be sitting on the table, and you notice at once if a route is missing that you meant to leave open.

It takes 1 minute and it is the only test that counts — the settings screen shows switches, the guest page shows the result.

Common questions

Can I switch photos off?

No. Photos work in every event; only video and voice notes can be switched off.

Does a change take effect immediately?

It applies to the next guest who opens the page. Anyone with it already open should reload.

Can I raise the video length beyond the plan?

No. Lower is always possible, higher only by changing plan.

Are consent and the name question on by default?

Both are off. You switch them on per event.

How long may a typed name be?

Up to 40 characters. Enough for a first name and a short addition, not for a message.

A route is missing on the guest page

Send us the album name and what you expect to see. A switch on the event is still off in most of these.
