Notifications by text message
A personal account gets no text messages. Notifications reach you by email, at the address on your account.
Branded SMS exists, but it is an agency feature on the top business tier and it sends to your clients guests, not to you.
There are no text alerts
No message arrives on your phone when a guest uploads, when a contribution needs review, or when a party gets busy. That is not a setting waiting to be found — the channel does not exist for a personal account, and saying so is more useful than sending you looking.
During a party the dashboard overview is the live view, and it updates while guests contribute.
- Check the email on your account. That is where every notice goes. An address you do not read is the usual problem.
- Watch the retention warnings. They arrive 14 days, 3 days and 1 day before an album is removed.
- Use the overview during a party. For live activity, the dashboard is the channel. Nothing is pushed to your phone.
What email you do get
The notices tied to your account and the warnings before an album is removed, which go out 14 days, 3 days and 1 day beforehand. They all go to the address on your account, which is why that field is worth checking.
There is an unsubscribe for the pre-event reminders, and it applies to your whole account rather than to a single event.
| Event | Channel | When |
|---|---|---|
| Album nearing expiry | 14, 3 and 1 day before removal | |
| Account notices | As they happen | |
| A guest uploads | Nothing is sent | Visible on the overview |
| Something awaits review | Nothing is sent | Flagged on the overview |
The overview is the live channel. Email is for the things that would otherwise be missed entirely.
What branded SMS actually is
It is a business feature on the top tier: an agency sends messages to its clients guests under its own sender name. The sender name has to be approved by the provider before anything goes out, so it is not something switched on in an afternoon.
It sends outward, to guests. It is not a way of alerting you about your own party.
Watching a party without alerts
Keep the overview open on a phone. It carries the running counts and flags anything waiting for approval, which is the whole of what a notification would have told you and it is available whenever you glance at it.
If you are reviewing contributions, a look every 30 minutes is a workable rhythm.
And no push notifications either
There is no phone app for hosts, so nothing is pushed to a home screen. The dashboard runs in a browser on a phone perfectly well, and that is the intended way to keep an eye on an event from the room.
Add it to your home screen if you want it a tap away. It behaves like a page, not like an app.
What to set up instead
Put the right email address on the account, and decide before the party who is watching the overview if you are reviewing contributions. Those 2 together replace everything a notification would have done.
And download the album in the week after rather than relying on the expiry warnings to remind you.
