Hide or delete uploads

What hiding does

A hidden contribution disappears for your guests and stays with you. It moves into its own area where everything you have hidden collects, ready to be restored. Nothing about the file changes, and it still occupies the storage it always did.

That makes it the low-stakes tool. Hiding something you were unsure about costs you a click to undo.

1. Open the album. The contribution and both actions sit on the same screen.
2. Hide by default. For anything blurred, duplicated or simply dull, hiding is enough and costs nothing.
3. Delete only on request. When a guest asks to withdraw something, hiding is not what they meant.

What deleting does

Deleting removes the contribution for good. There is no restore, no recycle area, and no version of it left for you. The dashboard asks you to confirm, and that confirmation is the last chance anyone gets.

Deleting does free the storage it used, which matters when an album is close to its ceiling.

If you are unsure which you want, hide it. That decision keeps both options open; deleting closes one.

The morning-after walk-through

Go through the album once the day after, when the late arrivals are in. Hide what is blurred, what is the third near-identical shot of the same table, and what is a picture of somebody s shoe. That is a 10-minute pass and it is what turns a pile into an album.

Resist deleting during it. Nothing in that list needs to be gone forever, and tomorrow you may disagree with yourself.

When a guest asks to withdraw something

Guests cannot remove their own contributions — without an account there is no personal area for it, so the request comes to you. When it does, delete rather than hide. Hiding leaves the file with you, which is not what somebody asking to withdraw a picture is asking for.

Act quickly, too. A guest who has to ask twice stops contributing.

Hiding does not free space

A hidden contribution still counts against your album s storage, and on the free tier still against the 60-contribution cap. If you are hiding things because the album is full, you are using the wrong tool — that needs deleting, or a larger plan.

Storage runs from 5 GB on the free tier to 250 GB, and video is what fills it.

Download before you delete

Take the album down first, then tidy. Once you have the files, a deletion costs you nothing you cannot replace; before that, it costs you the only copy. This applies doubly near the end of the retention window, when the whole album goes anyway.

On the paid plans that is 1 download of everything. The free tier has no package export.
