Share the link without printing anything
Every album has a short link, and it does exactly what the code does. Copy it from the QR & signs tab and send it wherever your guests already talk.
The trade-off is reach in the room: a link sits in a chat that people scroll past, while a card sits on the table in front of them all evening.
The link and the code are the same door
Scanning the code opens the link; there is nothing the code can do that the link cannot. So a guest who receives it in a message lands on exactly the page a guest at the table reaches, with the same upload options and the same album behind it.
That also means you never need a second code for people who are not in the room.

- Send it where they talk. The group chat that already exists beats a new channel nobody checks.
- Send it again afterwards. One reminder the next morning collects the photos people forgot to upload.
When sending beats printing
For anything without a venue: a birthday collected from several households, a colleague leaving, a group holiday, a baby announcement. Also for the days before and after a party, where nobody is standing next to your table card. In those cases printing solves a problem you do not have.
It is also the fastest fix during an event, if a printed sign turns out not to scan.
When printing still wins
In a room, a card outperforms a message. It is in front of a guest during the waiting minutes when they would upload, it needs no scrolling back through a chat, and it reaches people who are not in the group. Guests who joined late or were invited by somebody else never see the message at all.
For a party with a venue, do both. They cost almost nothing together.
Where to send it
The chat that already exists. A group that has been planning the party for weeks will read 1 more message; a channel you create for the album will not be opened. Messaging apps, email and a calendar invite all work, because the link is an ordinary web address.
Whoever opens it needs nothing installed and no account, which is worth saying in the message itself.
Keeping some control
If an open link is more than you want, you have 2 switches. Closing the upload window stops contributions immediately and invalidates the guest links; a password in front of the album means every viewer types it once before seeing anything.
For a private party neither is needed. For anything semi-public they are worth setting before the link goes out.

Can I use only the link and skip printing?
Yes, and for an event without a venue that is the better choice. In a room a card still reaches more people.
Do guests need an app to open it?
No. It opens in the browser their phone already has.
What if the link gets forwarded?
It works for whoever receives it. Close uploads or set a password if that is a concern.
