A code nobody scans is rarely a broken code. It hangs too high, it sits beside the buffet instead of on the table, it is too small for the distance, or a candle lights it instead of the room. So these articles are less about the file than about where it ends up.

If you read only 1 of them: the code belongs where guests are already sitting with a phone in their hand. Size, contrast, paper and format all follow from that.
